Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė is sending a message of greetings, on behalf of the Government and the people of Lithuania to Sweden celebrating its National Day.
‘Lithuania highly values the dynamic partnership and strong bilateral ties between our countries.
As close allies, today our two nations remain committed to the shared ideals of liberty and democracy and are working closely together to build a strong and forward-looking Europe, as well as sustainable peace on our continent and beyond.
We are hoping to welcome Sweden as a full-fledged member of the Alliance at the NATO Summit in Vilnius in July.
I have no doubt about Sweden’s important role in NATO in strengthening the security of our region and opening new opportunities for our countries to cooperate more closely in the fields of security and defence.
I am certain that the ever-growing friendly ties between our countries open new opportunities for even closer, mutually beneficial cooperation in the economic sphere, as well as in science, education, culture, and other fields.
Let me take this opportunity to congratulate you on the Sweden’s remarkable progress while presiding over the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2023, at a particularly difficult time and wish you a successful end to your tenure.
I have no doubt that we will continue strengthening our friendly relations and cooperation, successfully overcoming today's challenges by continuing to act together’, reads Prime Minister’s message of greetings.
