Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė extends greetings to Latvia and its people celebrating their Independence Day, coupled with best wishes for prosperity and well-being.

‘The celebration of Latvia’s Independence is an inspiring reminder for many nations around the world how much a free and democratic country can achieve.

This is a special day for Lithuania as well, as Lithuanians and Latvians are brotherly nations, close friends and allies, whose destinies are intertwined. I have no doubt that we will continue strengthening our friendly relations and cooperation and successfully overcome today's challenges by continuing to act together.

The experience and unity of the Baltic States is very important in building peaceful, prosperous, and strong Europe which is not susceptible to aggressors’ blackmail. Our continued unity in supporting Ukraine and in strengthening the sanctions against Russia and Belarus are of utmost importance as we seek sustainable peace in our continent.

As we focus our efforts on security and peace, I also hope that our two nations will continue to expand bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of business, education, culture, people-to-people contacts’, reads Prime Minister’s message of greetings to Prime Minister of Latvia Krišjānis Kariņš.
