Prime Minister will support Lithuanian athletes in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games

On 18 August, Thursday, Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius leaves for the Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) where he will meet with the Lithuanian athletes participating in the Olympic Games and will watch their participation.

On Friday Prime Minister is planning to watch the participation of Ignas Navakauskas in the canoeing and kayaking sports competition as well as the participation of Laura Asadauskaitė-Zadneprovskienė and Ieva Serapinaitė in the modern female pentathlon event of combined acts of shooting and running.

On Saturday the Head of Government will meet with the Lithuanian athletes and their coaches in the Olympic athlete village. Prime Minister will watch the participation of  Justinas Kinderis in the modern male pentathlon event  of combined acts of shooting and running, the participation of  Airinė Palšytė in the women‘s high jump final (if she will qualify for the final) held at the Nilton Santos Olympic stadium and the participation of Eglė Balčiūnaitė in women‘s 800 m distance run semi-final (if she will qualify for the semi-final).

On Sunday Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius will watch the XXXI Summer Olympic Games Closing Ceremony.

On Monday the Head of Government will meet with Lithuanians living in Rio de Janeiro.

Prime Minister is planning to return to Vilnius on Wednesday evening.
