Prime Minister thanks the outgoing U.S. Ambassador for her contribution to the strengthening of the relations between the countries and the people

Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius met with the outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Lithuania Deborah A. McCarthy. The Head of Government thanked the diplomat for her contribution to the development of the bilateral relations.
“I would like to sincerely thank your Government for the substantial input in the strengthening of the security of Lithuania and the whole region“, said Prime Minister Butkevičius by also noting that the cooperation with the United States is of strategic importance to Lithuania.
In recent years positive development has taken place in the area of economic and security relationship. According to the data from the first quarter of this year, the U.S. is the second biggest export partner of Lithuania. In comparison to the same period of the last year, the Lithuania’s export to the U.S. has increased by 32 per cent, whilst the export of Lithuanian goods grew by one third last year. The import of U.S. goods was on a steady increase. Recently the U.S. has authorised the meat product import which will boost the export of Lithuanian food products.
The Head of Government thanked the Ambassador for the personal contribution to the strengthening of the relations between the countries and the people and wished her success in the diplomatic service.
