On behalf of the Government of Lithuania, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė congratulated Ukraine on the occassion of the Independence Day.
"It is difficult to find the right words to thank the courageous Ukrainian people who have been valiantly defending their country and the freedom of all of Europe against Russian aggression for 18 months. Your determination inspires us, and we are committed to assist you in any way possible.
Together, we will persist in rallying our allies to ensure that the decisions made at the NATO Summit in Vilnius on 11-12 July of this year will facilitate your country's swift attainment of full NATO membership. We will also remain actively engaged with our international partners to ensure that Russian and Belarusian political leaders, officials and all those involved in war crimes, crimes against humanity and aggression against Ukraine are brought to justice. This is the only way to build a peaceful and stable Europe," said the Prime Minister in her message to the Head of the Ukrainian Government, Denys Shmyhal.
