Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius has met with new Hungarian Ambassador Zoltan Jancsi to discuss bilateral relations and further cooperation in the international format, particularly focusing on the European Union and NATO.
“It is my great pleasure to welcome you at the beginning of your service in our country, and express my conviction about the successful development of our bilateral relations under your guidance. We highly appreciate Hungary's contribution in strengthening security in the Baltic region, particularly through the NATO air policing mission and joint military exercises. We are NATO allies, and our joint forces serve as the guarantor for the security of the entire region”, said the Prime Minister.
Ways to develop Lithuania-Hungary economic cooperation have also been discussed in the meeting, including closer commercial ties in chemical industry, food, life sciences, particularly in pharmaceuticals.
A joint business forum might help strengthening the cooperation. The Prime Minister noted that the Hungarian medical services and pharmaceutical experts would be welcome in “Life Sciences Baltics 2016” in Vilnius.
