Prime Minister has met with Grand Duke of Luxembourg

Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis has met with Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, who has arrived in Lithuania with a business delegation.
The Prime Minister has thanked the Grand Duke for Luxembourg’s participation in NATO missions in Lithuania and for the contribution into the strengthening of security of Lithuania and the region.
“We are pleased with excellent relationship between Lithuania and Luxembourg, we are close partners in the EU and NATO, and we share positions on many aspects of the European agenda and the security policy. We particularly value the cooperation of our countries in the field of defence, which has strengthened in recent years”, said the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister has also welcomed today’s signing of the agreement on renewable energy. It is the first agreement of this type in the European Union, and it will open up the way for the new type of cooperation in the Union’s energy policy.
Prime Minister Skvernelis has expressed his hope for more active economic cooperation between Lithuania and Luxembourg. Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg has confirmed that his country is interested in strengthening economic cooperation with Lithuania. The biggest interest is in the fields of logistics, telecommunications, information technologies and defence. According to the Grand Duke, Lithuania looks strongest and most competitive in those fields. Possible cooperation in the field of satellite communications has also been mentioned.
The Prime Minister has invited representatives of Luxembourg banks and investment companies to pay a visit to Lithuania. According to Skvernelis, there could be stronger competition in the financial services sector in Lithuania.
