On Friday, Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and discussed topical bilateral and regional matters, Eastern Partnership programme, NATO-Ukraine cooperation, implementation of reforms in Ukraine, and situation in Belarus.

In his telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Prime Minister Skvernelis has once again emphasized that Lithuania strongly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within the internationally recognized borders, and continues the policy of non-recognition of the illegal annexation of Crimea.

The Prime Minister has stressed that Ukraine has made obvious progress in reforms. This is evidenced by the successful implementation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) and NATO’s decision to grant Ukraine an Enhanced Operating Partner status. The Prime Ministers have emphasized the importance of the Ukraine Reform Conference, which was postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Saulius Skvernelis has invited Denys Shmyhal to pay a visit to Lithuania. The Head of the Government of Ukraine has accepted the invitation. The visit of the Prime Minister of Ukraine to Lithuania is planned for October this year.
