Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė has sent a message of sincere greetings to Poland celebrating its Independence Day.

“On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, please accept my sincere greetings to You and all the people of Poland on the occasion of Independence Day. I wish You, Your Government and all the people of Poland unity, prosperity and well-being,” reads the letter to Head of the Government of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki.

“I am glad that Lithuania and Poland are close allies. Our nations can be proud of our long-standing relationship based on the strong strategic partnership principles, which today are further strengthened by our close cooperation in the area of defence and joint strategic infrastructure projects. I am confident that we will continue strengthening our friendly relations and cooperation in the future as well, and will successfully work together to overcome today's challenges.

I have no doubts regarding our unity in consistently supporting Ukraine and in strengthening the sanctions against Russia and Belarus. The solidarity and close cooperation of our countries are of special importance when a brutal and unprecedented war is being waged against Ukraine, against democracy and against the rules-based international order. I believe in our shared and consistent commitment to further strengthen the NATO alliance and to build a peaceful and secure future for our region and the whole European continent.

I would like to take this opportunity to commend the intensive cooperation between the Governments of Lithuania and Poland and to thank You for a very productive and fruitful meeting between the Governments of Lithuania and Poland in Vilnius on 16 September. This clearly demonstrates the dynamic and close strategic partnership between our countries and the already established fruitful cooperation between our Governments, which, I am sure, will continue in the future," emphasized Head of the Government of Lithuania.
