Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė congratulated Luxembourg, which celebrates its National Day on 23 June, and wished the country and its people prosperity and well-being.

In her letter of greetings to Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, the Lithuanian Head of Government thanked Luxembourg for its valuable contribution to the NATO enhanced forward presence battle group in Lithuania, which demonstrates the country’s and the Alliance’s firm commitment to defending NATO’s territory.

“At the same time, there are many issues on the European and NATO’s agendas that we, as like-minded countries and allies, must tackle jointly: strengthening NATO’s forward defence and deterrence, the membership of Ukraine in NATO, the European integration of Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, and the Western Balkans, strengthening of security and prosperity in all Europe”, reads the Prime Minister’s letter.

Ms. Šimonytė noted that the principled stance of Luxembourg in supporting Ukraine and its people is very much appreciated, and that it is very important to strengthen the support while continuing to pressure the aggressor regime of Russia and its accomplice, Belarus, with the strongest possible sanctions and to pursue international accountability for the crime of aggression committed against Ukraine.
