Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė extends greetings to the Kingdom of Belgium on the occasion of its National Day.

‘As we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between our countries this year, I am delighted to note our good bilateral relations and cooperation in a wide range of areas, including development of renewables as well as enhancement of energy and technological independence. We highly value Belgium’s contribution to the NATO Enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroup in Lithuania as a strong sign of solidarity which strengthens the security in our region and the whole of Europe.

Our continued unity in supporting Ukraine and in strengthening the sanctions against Russia and Belarus are important, as we seek sustainable peace, and Europe, which is strong and not susceptible to aggressors’ blackmailing.  I believe that by acting together, we will not only help to overcome the evil we face today but will also strengthen the values of freedom and democracy.

I also look forward to deepening the cooperation between Lithuania and Belgium bilaterally as well as in the EU, NATO, Baltic-Benelux, and other formats’, reads the Head of Government’s letter of greetings.
