Prime Minister extends greetings to Germany celebrating national holiday

Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis has extended greetings, on behalf of the Government and the people of Lithuania, to German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel on the occasion of the national holiday of Germany – the German Unity Day.

“On this important occasion, I wish every success and prosperity for the entire German nation. I am pleased that Lithuania and Germany are partners in taking further our bilateral cooperation that builds on mutual respect and shared values, and our political dialogue in international organizations”, reads Prime Minister’s letter.

According to the Head of Government, Lithuania particularly appreciates Germany’s consolidating role in the challenging times for the European Union. The Prime Minister has expressed appreciation to Germany for its leadership in deploying NATO’s Forward Presence Battalion in Lithuania and has assured that Lithuania will contribute to the further fostering the strategic partnership with Germany.

Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis has also taken the opportunity to warmly welcome Chancellor Merkel with her personal and the partisan victory of the Christian Democratic Union in the German parliamentary elections, wishing further dedication in continuing to ensure the well-being of the people of the country and addressing issues that are relevant to the entire European Union.
