On behalf of the Government and the people of Lithuania, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė has sent a message of sincere greetings to Montenegro celebrating its Statehood Day.

“l highly value the friendly relations and cooperation between Lithuania and Montenegro and have no doubts that it will be further strengthened for the mutual benefit of our countries and Europe as a whole, as we strive to build a peaceful and secure future for the European continent.

Our continued unity in supporting Ukraine, and in strengthening the sanctions against Russia and Belarus, is of utmost importance as we seek sustainable peace and Europe which is strong and not susceptible to aggressors’ blackmailing. l appreciate your country’s support for Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic future. It is important that all those responsible for Russia’s War against Ukraine are held accountable by establishing the Special Tribunal for the prosecution of the crime of aggression.

l avail myself of this opportunity to express once again the Lithuanian Government’s support for the merits-based EU enlargement policy in the Western Balkans region. It is in our joint interest to see our democratic and value-aligned partners within the European Union,” reads Head of the Government’s letter of greetings.
