Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis has met with members of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry who are interested in the project development prospects in the fields of information and communication technologies, food industry and other areas of economy.

‘Although vast distance separates our countries, we are connected by the wish to cooperate. The United Arab Emirates is among the key economic partners in the region and has enormous potential. I am highly delighted that the Lithuanian products have demand on this market. We are ready for a more active cooperation in various fields, and there is no doubt that this meeting will further accelerate this process’, said the Prime Minister.
The Head of Government has stressed the importance of the development of diplomatic ties: an important agreement has been reached to open up respective embassies in the UAE and Lithuania. The planned direct regular air services between the two states will also give new impetus for the bilateral cooperation.
Lithuania stands out in the Baltic region with its well-developed information and communication technology sector; its internet access is among the fastest and cheapest in Europe. Therefore, the UAE business representatives are interested in Lithuania’s achievements and prospects in this field.
In 2017, Lithuania’s export to the UAE grew 73 per cent, and the trade turnover between Lithuania and the UAE exceeded EUR 136 million.
